    Description

Sigfrido "Sigi' Pineda is an important listed artist who was one of the most influential Mexican Modernists of his day.  Originally known for his remarkable jewelry,  his mixed metal and mosaic wall plaques became highly sought after.   His famous zoomorphic shapes are inlaid in exquisite patterns of stone an turquoise.  This artwork in particular is quite rare.  And truly emblematic of his futurist Mid-Century sensibility.  The mosaic is comprised of copper, silver, brass, turquoise, and stone.  His iconic signature 'Sigi' is inlaid in the upper left-hand corner.  The work measures 11 inches tall by 5.25 inches wide.  And it weighs a hefty two pounds.  The photos hardly do it justice.  The shapes and textures and coloration is outstanding in person and represents the very best of the Mexican Modernist Movement.  There is a certificate of authenticity attached to the back with additional information including the year is was made.  1968.  This wonderful work is being offered from our collection of Mexican Modernism for the very first time.  Stunning and extremely decorative.
