These are Japanese & George Nakashima inspired floating nightstands using matching consecutive cut live edge walnut tops with drawers mounted underneath. These hang via metal cleats inlaid into the rear of the units, very simple to hang and invisible.
The drawer fronts are black, not by staining but from burning - keeping the grain in tact, emphasized, creating a deep and rich textured black not achievable through staining. The original technique, Yakisugi, was used to preserve exterior wood siding, to protect against weathering and create a carbon barrier to help prevent against fire damage.
The units photographed are about 24" wide x 14" + deep. Pricing quoted is for a pair roughly that size. Each live edge slab/matched set of slabs is different in shape, lines, contours and grain patterns meaning that each piece is unique, one of a kind and can never be replicated.
I can make these in different sizes and from different species. Please message me to discuss your specific needs.
Ships via FedEx, please include zip code and town/city name for an accurate quote. PA buyers add 8% Philadelphia sales tax.
