Four Publix Premium Vanilla Ice Cream Sandwich’s sealed in 3.5 mil zip seal Mylar bags with a 300cc oxygen absorber.
These freeze dried ice cream sandwiches will stay fresh for years in the Mylar and then for many weeks or longer after opened because the bags have a zip seal. They arrive vacuum sealed so the oxygen absorber is fresh and ready to do it’s work once the bag is resealed.
To me these Publix ice cream sandwiches are indistinguishable from the name brand variety I normally choose (and have for sale right now on eBay!). They look and taste the same, to me at least, and when I transcribed the nutrition information and ingredients they were identical... I’m thinking they are made in the same factory, probably just a packaging difference and a price difference, so I’m passing the savings on to you by putting four in each bag instead of three.
Freeze drying is a a technique where the water is sublimated off of the food using vacuum and very cold temperatures. What you are left with is food with 97% or more of the nutritional value of fresh and the structure of fresh food without any water. This allows incredibly long shelf lives, up to 25 years when packed in Mylar bags. No refrigeration required.
