  • Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice very fine or better with all the details being well preserved. This is an attractive note having evidence of handling and some wear. The note has three vertical folds and a light horizontal fold. The note has minimum soiling but has a stain above the head of Vondel which is also evident on the back. The note is still relatively crisp and is not floppy. The note has no tears and the edges are intact with minimum wear. Corners are still squared and show minimum rounding but are creased. It does have wear commensurate with its age and circulated status. Please see photo for additional condition information.

    Description:
    A nice very fine or much better banknote from the Netherlands. This is the 26 April 1966 five Gulden issued by the Netherlands Bank. The note is green in color over a multicolored underprint and has the image of Joost van den Vondel in the upper right corner of the front. Van den Vondel is the famous Dutch writer and playwright. He is considered the most prominent Dutch poet and playwright of the 17th century. The back of the note has the same color scheme as the front and has a modernistic depiction of the Amst6erdam play-house. The note has two signatures in black on the front. The note displays the serial number and series on the back twice. This particular note has the serial number 018689 and it is series 3DC. The note has a water mark depicting an inkwell with a quill in it and a scroll next to them. Please carefully review the scan as it is part and parcel of our description.
