    Description

Fine late 18th / early 19th century old Paris porcelain sauce tureen and cover decorated in the sprig or cornflower pattern favored by Marie Antoinette - with gilt highlights.  The sauce boat and undertray are one piece.  Boat shape with pointed ends and applied paterae at each end.  Good overall condition - the knop is missing and in its place is an old metal loop as a "make do" repair probably completed in the 19th century.  Unmarked though the design elements and unglazed base suggest Queen's Factory or one of the early Paris companies like Nast or Dihl.  Finest quality museum piece.  Measures 10.25" long x 6.25" wide.  Please view our other auctions for more early sprig from a collection.
