    Description

    This is a PROJECT BOAT that suffers from fairly cosmetic (but abundant) storm damage and neglect. It’s a wonderful design with bluewater cruising potential. (In 2018, a boat of this design, s/v Steppin Out, successfully rounded Cape Horn). If you Google

    you'll find an in-depth review of the Bristol 27 and its specifications. The model being auctioned has the “cruising interior” with outboard well. No engine is included. The boat does include mast, boom, standing rigging, most (possibly all) running rigging, roller furling, winches, headsail, and mainsail. (Sails are quite well used.) Please see below for more details.
    The auction also includes a tandem axle trailer, described as follows: Surge brakes with less than 1,000 miles of use mounted on one axle. Coupler accommodates a 2-5/16” ball.
    Brand new trailer tires
    . Brand new LED lights. (Wiring harness employs a 4-wire flat connector.) Tongue extension for ramp launching. Axles are 2” x 3” rectangular steel tubing. Wheels are mounted to 5-lug hubs. Exact trailer specifications are unknown.
    This classic cruiser will make a fun and worthwhile restoration project. Spars appear to be in good condition. Items needing to be addressed during restoration include, but are not limited to, the following: Roller furler has a bent foil section. Bow pulpit is bent and was yanked from the deck during a storm, along with at least one stanchion. (Resulting deck holes were covered with epoxy. All stanchions are believed to be present, while one leg of the pulpit may be missing.) Stern pulpit is slightly bent. A small section of deck in the bow is known to be soft. All exterior wood will require restoration or replacement. Icebox needs rebuilding. It appears that remote shifter and throttle controls for an outboard were once installed in the cockpit, but have been removed, leaving openings in one side of the cockpit. Gelcoat crazing is found pretty much everywhere. Port sail track is bent. Midship cleats have been pulled from the cap rail. There might have been a 25-gallon fuel tank below the cockpit sole at one time. If so, it has been removed. However, the outboard well is quite large and should accommodate plastic outboard tanks. The bow shows storm-related gelcoat damage. (See photos.) Portlight plexiglass is fogged and needs replacement. Bent bow roller. Some Bristol 27 owners are known to have added weight beneath the cabin sole to improve stiffness, and that is reportedly the case here. A previous owner stated that 300 pounds of lead was installed between the berths in the forward cabin. It appears that the area was temporarily glassed over, perhaps to assess effectiveness of the added weight before making the modification permanent. So, that area will require some attention, either permanent encapsulation or removal. (See photos.) Some tabbing will need attention, but bulkheads appear to be solid and chainplate attachment seems to be good, though I am no surveyor. You are strongly encouraged to view the boat and trailer in person before bidding, rather than relying upon the accuracy of the above statements.
    Additional Info: The boat and trailer will not be sold separately.   The boat and trailer will not be delivered.   Alabama does not issue boat titles, so only a bill-of-sale will be provided to the buyer.   Also, Alabama does not title or register boat trailers.   So, again, a bill-of-sale will be provided.   A 0 deposit must be paid within 24-hours of auction end.  Otherwise, the items will be re-listed. The boat and trailer are being offered for sale locally, concurrent with the auction.   As such, the auction may be terminated early.
